More Najib aides to be questioned over 1MDB

(TMI) – MORE aides of former prime minister Najib Razak are expected to be quizzed over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal after one was remanded yesterday.

“Most probably, we will be calling in several former officers,” The Star newspaper quoted a source as saying.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) remanded Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin yesterday for seven days.

He had been working for Najib since 2009 and owned a company which allegedly received RM2 million from Najib via SRC International, a subsidiary of 1MDB, according to PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli who exposed the matter last year.

SRC International is a former subsidiary of 1MDB and also one of the companies through which money from the state investor flowed before being deposited into Najib’s private bank accounts.

Amhari was arrested at the MACC headquarters after his statement was recorded on Sunday night.

Amhari was also reportedly a co-owner of the company that developed a mobile app for Najib Razak released in 2016.
