Salleh takes over Sabah Umno chief duties from Musa Aman
Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak’s new responsibilities were announced today.
(FMT) – Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak will be carrying out the duties of the Sabah Umno chairman, said vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The former deputy prime minister said present chairman Musa Aman, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional chief, would be concentrating on his court case.
“That’s the decision we made today,” Zahid said after a meeting with Sabah Umno leaders at the party’s headquarters here today.
Zahid is in Sabah for the first time since the general election last month.
Salleh is also the Sabah Umno-cum-BN deputy chief. The former Sabah chief minister (1994 to 1996) served as the communications and multimedia minister in the previous BN government.
Zahid, meanwhile, evaded further questions from the media and proceeded to a buka puasa event with Sabah Umno members.
Musa was sworn in as Sabah chief minister on May 10,.
On May 17, he filed a writ of summons against the head of state, Juhar Mahiruddin, and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Shafie Apdal.
Musa is seeking a declaration, among others, that he is and remains the lawful chief minister of Sabah, and that the “purported swearing-in” of Shafie as a second chief minister on May 12 by Juhar was unconstitutional.
The writ also seeks a declaration that any and all acts by Shafie, while purporting to be the chief minister, are null, void and of no effect.
