MACC raids three properties linked to Azeez Rahim

(NST) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday raided three properties linked to Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abd Rahim.

It is learnt that the raid were conducted at his homes in Subang Jaya and Baling, Kedah, as well as his office in Jalan Tun Razak.

Perlis MACC chief, Mohd Shukor Mahmud, confirmed the raid in Baling.

He said the raid was conducted by Putrajaya MACC, with Perlis MACC providing assistance.

Shukor was unable to confirm whether Azeez was detained or otherwise.

“You’ll have to check with Putrajaya on what the investigation is about,” he said.

Sources said the probe on the Tabung Haji chairman was to facilitate a bribery and abuse of power investigation.

It is learnt that the raids were conducted simultaneously at 12.30pm yesterday. It is also learnt that the raids were conducted to facilitate an investigation into contractor appointment involving Tabung Haji projects.

“As of midnight, checks at the three premises were still ongoing. MACC also impounded cash at one of the locations.

“The case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act for receiving bribes, involving granting TH projects to contractors,” the source said when contacted today.

Attempts to contact Azeez for comments are underway.
