MCA sacks 12 for working against party in GE14

(Berita Daily) – The 12, including seven contesting the general election under another ticket, have been expelled from the party effective immediately

Twelve MCA members, including those contesting the general election under another ticket, have been expelled from the party effective immediately.

This was revealed by MCA disciplinary board chairman Chor Chee Heung today. He said the decision was made after investigation by the presidential council.

“The disciplinary board held an emergency meeting via teleconference, and found conclusive evidence that the 12 members had contravened Article 122 of the party constitution either by offering their names as independent candidates, contesting under an opposition ticket, or acting as proposer, seconder or witness to these candidates.

“The presidential council has agreed with the board’s recommendation that they be expelled immediately and official letters informing the 12 have already been issued this morning (April 29),” he was quoted as saying in the Star Online today.

Of the 12 expelled, nine were from Johor, two from Perak and one from Kulim, Kedah.

Ting Choon Chai and Lim Yak Hong were expelled for contesting the Puteri Wangsa state seat in Johor as independents.

Ting’s witness Thin Meau Guey, Lim’s proposer Ng Lee Chu, and Lim’s witness Lam Tau Lai also had their membership rescinded.

Those contesting under Opposition tickets were Tee Boon Tsong (DAP in Senai), Ng Yak Howe (DAP in Bentayan), Chin Kwai Leong (PSM in Menglembu), Chin Kwai Heng (PSM in Tronoh), and Yeo Keng Chuan (PKR in Kulim).

Tee’s proposer Choon Kai Ling and Ng’s seconder Chew Mui Mui were also kicked out of the party.

On whether the seven candidates had expressed disappointment over not being chosen as BN candidates, Chor said there was no indication before this.

“They should have raised their concerns through the right party channels and not resorted to this.

“They may claim they are no longer members but our official records showed they still were, so we made the decision to review and take action,” he said.
