Deal with your own problems, DAP told

(The Star) – DAP should deal with its own problems and stop dragging MCA into its party election mess, an MCA state chief said.

Negri Sembilan MCA chief Datuk Seri Lim Chin Fui said it was illogical of DAP to target MCA, when it was DAP members who lodged a complaint with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) on the wrong tabulation of party election results through a computer spreadsheet.

“DAP blaming MCA for its own internal re-election fuss shows that not only does it not want to admit its own mistakes, it was also bent on diverting attention to shift the public focus away from its own shortcomings,” he said.

Lim added that while RoS had instructed DAP to hold fresh polls after the disputed party elections in December 2012, it did not heed RoS’ advice and instead accused the recent RoS instruction as a form of sabotage.

On Friday, the RoS ordered DAP to hold fresh elections for its central executive committee (CEC), adding that it had no intention of deregistering the party.

Lim said DAP would not solve its own problems by scolding MCA.

“It is imperative for DAP to immediately remedy its own internal mess. Does DAP assume that the solution to its problems is by criticising MCA?

“It must not drag MCA into its own party polls dilemma. MCA does not exist to be DAP’s scapegoat,” Lim said.

He added that if DAP claimed to champion a fair, transparent and clean society, “why should it be accorded special privileges to not have to hold fresh party polls?”
