Pakatan’s mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest

The DAP-led Pakatan Harapan is telling Umno and PAS that unless Umno and PAS work together then, in the next general election, Pakatan Harapan and Pribumi are going to march into Putrajaya. So, according to the opposition, if both Umno and PAS want to survive they need to find common ground and help keep each other alive just like what DAP is doing with Pribumi.

PAKATAN’S GAME OF THRONES

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Many Pakatuns and Dapsters complain that Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is not handling the crisis with North Korea properly. They grumble that Najib is putting Malaysia at risk from a nuclear attack from North Korea. Okay, while they bitch about the ‘wrong’ way Najib is handling the diplomatic row with North Korea, they have not suggested what the ‘correct’ way should be.

And that is the problem with the opposition. They are always quick off the mark in condemning the government’s way of doing things. But when you ask them how then should that matter be handled, they do not have answers.

Back in 2013, Anwar Ibrahim criticised the government’s budget and said that the government is not managing Malaysia’s finances properly. When the media asked him how then would Pakatan Rakyat do things, Anwar replied that it is a secret and he cannot reveal the secret or else the government would steal the opposition’s ideas. “Put us in power first and we will show you what we can do and how we do things,” said Anwar.

So you see, the opposition can tell us what is wrong but they cannot tell us what is the right way. And they can tell us that Najib’s way of handing the row with North Korea is wrong because it exposes Malaysia to the risk of a nuclear attack but they have no idea on how the row should be managed.

North Korea knows that to attack Malaysia would be mutually-assured destruction when the US rains missiles on them in return

The Chinese are proud of their 5,000 years of civilisation and always boast about it. They say that China was already civilised when Malays were still living on trees. Actually, if the Chinese know their history they would know that the Malays were Orang Laut and not Orang Darat. That means the Malays were a seafaring people, which also means Malays never lived on trees. For example, the Bugis Malays were what the English used to call the Vikings of the East.

Anyway, the Chinese’s 5,000 years of civilisation was one of feudalism. That means the Chinese were mainly serfs of their overlords and warlords. And any dissent was punished by total genocide. In 350, General Ran Min exterminated the Wu Hu, especially the Jie people. Since then the Chinese have been a docile and subservient race. In the 1800s many Chinese migrated to British Malaya to escape the oppression in China that resulted in the deaths of millions.

So the Chinese were never a political race like the Malays are. Back in the 1960s there used to be a joke that went as follows:

One Chinese will do business. Two Chinese will gamble. Three Chinese will form a triad.

One Indian will drink. Two Indians will fight. Three Indians will form a union.

One Malay will play politics. Two Malays will play politics. Three Malays will play politics.

Of course today that type of joke would be consider a racial slur but back in the 1960s Malaysians were less sensitive and were able to laugh at themselves. The bottom line is, to the Malays it is all and only about politics and Malaysians have known about this since long ago.

Malays were already politically-organised since long before WWII

So, the Malays understand the concept of mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest, something the Chinese are just beginning to learn. Take Barisan Nasional as an example, which replaced the Alliance Party back in 1973. When Tun Razak Hussein formed Barisan Nasional it was due to mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest. Umno, MCA, MIC, PPP, Gerakan, PAS, SUPP, PBB, and so on, did not need to love or trust one another. They just needed to have mutual self-interest and to fear mutually-assured destruction. That would be enough to make Barisan National work.

And did you notice that DAP refused to join Barisan Nasional for the same reason it destroyed Pakatan Rakyat?

This was the basis for the formation of Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah and Gagasan Rakyat in 1990. This was the basis for the formation of Barisan Alternatif in 1999. And this was the basis for the formation of Pakatan Rakyat in 2008.

Kit Siang made a bad decision in 1990, like he did again in 2001 and 2015, and the opportunity for change slipped through his hands

Each time, however, DAP was the spoiler. In 1990 they had two coalitions, Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah and Gagasan Rakyat, mainly because DAP was selfish and did not understand politics — or in particular did not understand the concept of mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest. If they did then there would have been just one coalition in 1990 and not two and DAP would not have lost four of its seats but would instead have won an extra ten seats.

In 2001, DAP destroyed Barisan Alternatif and the 2004 general election was a disaster for the opposition after the historic general election of 1999. And now, yet again, DAP destroyed Pakatan Rakyat and in 2015 formed Pakatan Harapan and the opposition is in an utter mess because of it.

So what do you think is going to happen in the coming general election? You do not need a PhD in political science to know that Barisan Nasional is going to sweep two-thirds of the seats in Parliament and once it has two-thirds control of Parliament the opposition is going to be put out of business for good.

Are Umno and Barisan Nasional that strong? It really does not matter. It is not about whether Umno and Barisan Nasional are strong. It is about the opposition being in tatters. While Umno and Barisan Nasional understand the concept of mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest, the opposition has absolutely no clue of what to do and where to go.

DAP, however, thinks it is smart. They are using the Malays and are happily telling everyone that they are merely using the Malays and do not really regard the Malays as true partners. Everyone knows that DAP is using the Malays. Even the Malays being used know that DAP is using them. But why do they need to keep telling everyone this?

In the spirit of mutual self-interest, DAP should come out with a win-win formula like what Barisan Nasional does. A situation where only DAP wins but the rest are merely being used cannot work and cannot last. And this is how DAP does things. Not only do they screw the prostitute, but after screwing her instead of paying her they take money from her as well. This makes the rest of the partners in the opposition worse than prostitutes. At least prostitutes get paid and not they have to pay like in Pakatan Harapan.

DAP is acting like an overlord and is treating the rest of the partners in the opposition as serfs. This was how China operated for 5,000 years and this is the DAP culture till today. So, in that sense, 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation has been wasted on DAP.

The ex-Umno Malays who are now serfs of DAP are no better. If you review what they have been saying about Lim Kit Siang and DAP in the past the mind boggles as to how they can now sleep in the same bed as DAP. Just look at the two videos below regarding what Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin have said about those they now call friends.

Well, at least you can give Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Kit Siang credit for one thing. They understand the concept of mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest. They know that unless they go to bed with one another in spite of their hatred for one another there is no way they are going to survive beyond 2018.

Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Kit Siang need each other because they have nothing else left, and unless they work together they are going to die. If Mahathir dies then Kit Siang is dead and vice versa. Both Mahathir and Kit Siang need to keep the other alive for the interest of their sons. Mahathir needs Kit Siang’s help to ensure Boboi’s future while Kit Siang needs Mahathir’s help also to ensure Lim Junior’s future.

Kit Siang will work with the devil just to save his son

But DAP and Pakatan Harapan made one major mistake. They keep saying that Umno is as good as dead. Mahathir’s people are going around saying that at most Barisan Nasional is going to win just 70 seats in the next general election because of PPBM a.k.a. Pribumi. And they keep saying that PAS is going to get totally wiped out like it was in 1986 when it won only one parliament seat because of PAN.

So what are DAP and Pakatan Harapan trying to say? What is the message that DAP and Pakatan Harapan are sending out? The message DAP and Pakatan Harapan are sending out is that Umno and PAS on their own are dead and unless they work together both are going to get ousted in the next general election.

DAP and Pakatan Harapan may think they are being very clever. Maybe they are playing a psywar game. But this psywar game is telling Umno and PAS that in the spirit of mutually-assured destruction and mutual self-interest they had better find a way to work together or else in the next general election the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan and Mahathir’s Pribumi are going to march into Putrajaya.

One thing, though, it is amazing how Kit Siang was able to turn or transform Mahathir and Muhyiddin from what they used to say, as in the two videos below, the greatest condemnation of DAP ever, to what they are saying today. Real amazing!
