The Kit Siang Mahathir ‘Bromance’ Leaves Opposition in a Quandary!

(Malaysian Observer) – In the buildup to the upcoming 14th general election, Lim Kit Siang’s  DAP-led opposition finds itself in a quandary.

To the DAP-led opposition faithful, the big election was supposed to be a walk in the park. They believed that they had the right ammunition (1MDB) to bring down Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and all they need do is bide their time until what they believed to be the soon to be ex-government announced when the election would take place.

Although DAP-led opposition believed that the election was theirs to be had, they still wanted to hedge their bets.  They thought that in coercing the losers of the Islamic party (PAS) away and having them form their own party (Amanah) that would pull in the Malay/Muslim vote.

To aid in the process of wooing Malays, the DAP led opposition opened their arms to disgruntled UMNO casts offs, former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, former Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir as well as the latter’s father, Tun Mahathir who had also been working to unseat Prime Minister Najib Razak in order to clear the path for his son Mukhriz Mahathir to become Prime Minister.

Unfortunately for the DAP-led opposition, what started out as a walk in the park, turned out to be a walk in ‘Jurassic Park’ as Prime Minister Najib Razak was as clever and shrewd and as the raptors depicted in the blockbuster movie.

Najib was well aware of the overt and covert efforts of those comprising the Anti Najib Campaign (ANC) as well as those like Muhyiddin who feigned loyalty, but like Cesar’s Brutus was waiting for an opportunity to politically stab his leader in the back.

However before the former deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin could bring forth his plan or get used to the idea of becoming Prime Minister, he was sacked and kicked out the party.

That action (Muhyiddin’s sacking) within itself shook the foundation of the conspirator’s plot to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak as they (DAP-led opposition) hoped to have both Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir within UMNO to stir up chaos while Tun Mahathir threw unsubstantiated accusations at the Prime Minister from the outside.
