Zaid’s membership in DAP will not last long, says Tunku Abdul Aziz

(Malaysia Outlook) – Should former Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim join DAP, as rumoured, he would find out about DAP’s true nature the hard way.

This was the opinion of former DAP national vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim.

“I will bet the shirt on my back that his membership will not last long,” Tunku Abdul Aziz told the New Straits Times.

Last week, it was rumoured that Zaid would join DAP following an invite to a press conference set for tomorrow in which he would be attending together with DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman Mahathir Mohamad.

“The party is not what it is made to be. You have to be in the party to know what it is all about,” Tunku Abdul Aziz, who joined DAP in 2008 and left some four years later, said.

He reminded Zaid that the latter should consider whether joining DAP would benefit the Malays.

Tunku Abdul Aziz stressed that DAP was chauvinistic and even with Zaid becoming a member, it would not change the Malays’ opinion of the party.

While stating that there was little advice he could offer Zaid, whom he described as already being ‘a big boy and can make up his own mind’, Tunku Abdul Aziz said this time around, the former Law minister would need to take a deep look within his conscience.
