Kit Siang panics, yet again, in just two months

Game

On 3rd December 2016 Kit Siang panicked when Najib revealed that the next general election is going to be a contest between the Umno-Malay-led Barisan Nasional and the DAP-Chinese-led Pakatan Harapan. Last week Kit Siang panicked again when Mahathir revealed that Kit Siang is going to become the Deputy Prime Minister if Pakatan marches into Putrajaya. Mahathir did a u-turn two days later but the damage has already been done. The cat is now out of the bag and there is no getting the cat back in.

PAKATAN’S GAME OF THRONES

Raja Petra Kamarudin

“I really pity the Umno operatives who have been tasked with the thankless job of going through the 10 million words that I must have spoken and written in my 51 years of political life to find proof that I am anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers and yet unable to do so – which is in fact the most powerful testimony that it is the Umno leaders, propagandists and cyber-troopers who are guilty of the most irresponsible and immoral gutter politics of lies, hate and bigotry in trying to demonise DAP and myself as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Malay Rulers,” said Lim Kit Siang in his blog posting yesterday.

Kit Siang says he has spoken and written 10 million words over the last 51 years of his political life. His latest three blog postings (see links below) alone take up about 5,000 words so we do know Kit Siang talks a lot although sometimes he talks a lot but says very little.

What is important is not the 5,000 words in his latest three blog postings or the 10 million words he has uttered and written over the last 51 years. The important thing is his 10 million words over 51 years have always been offensive. He was always critical, on the attack, and condemned everything that the government, Umno, the ruling coalition, the Prime Minister, the Malay Rulers, etc., did. And 51 years ago the First Prime Minister was still in office, which means Kit Siang has been critical of every single Prime Minister since the first one.

Kit Siang’s latest three blog postings, however, have changed from being on the offensive to being on the defensive. Instead of his usual criticism, attacks and condemnation of the government, Umno, the ruling coalition, the Prime Minister, the Malay Rulers, etc., Kit Siang is now panicking and is trying to explain why it is impossible for DAP to be in charge if the opposition wins the next general election. Kit Siang also denies he and DAP are racists, anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers, and so on. Kit Siang, however, thinks we forgot that in 2008 when DAP won 18 out of the 59 state seats in Perak (with seven seats for PKR and six for PAS), DAP put a PAS state assemblyman as DAP’s proxy Menteri Besar and called the shots from behind the scene.

Anwar Ibrahim was so upset that DAP controlled Perak by proxy that he plotted to oust the PAS Menteri Besar, Nizar Jamaluddin, and replace him with a PKR Menteri Besar, Nasaruddin Hashim, a defector from Umno. DAP refused to replace Nizar with Nasaruddin and in the end Perak fell back to Barisan Nasional. Anwar appeared to prefer for Perak to go back to Barisan Nasional rather than remain under DAP’s control through their proxy Menteri Besar from PAS.

Anwar-Ibrahim

Anwar Ibrahim brought down the Perak State Government because with only 18 out of 59 seats DAP called the shots

Now, it was Pakatan Harapan’s own Anwar Ibrahim who in 2008 said that DAP won only 18 out of 59 seats in Perak and yet they control the state by proxy. Anwar also complained that DAP won only 13 out of 56 seats in Selangor and they also control the state. And, of course, in Penang DAP is totally in charge. So DAP does not need majority seats in Parliament. All it needs is 45 parliament seats or less  if Pakatan Harapan forms the Federal Government because DAP will still call the shots from behind the scene. History has proven this and even Anwar said so.

In fact, DAP does not have a single seat in Kelantan and yet it wants PAS to do what DAP wants. And when Kelantan pushed for the Sharia amendments, a.k.a. RUU355, DAP unilaterally closed down Pakatan Rakyat so that PAS can be sacked from the opposition coalition. DAP does not even own a solitary seat in Kelantan and yet DAP wants to decide what happens in Kelantan. So how can DAP pretend they have no say if they win only 45 out of 222 parliament seats when they have zero out of 45 seats in Kelantan and yet PAS must do what DAP wants or else get sacked from the coalition?

Anyway, while Kit Siang may have uttered and written 10 million words in his 51 years political career, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has uttered and written many more than 10 million in that same 51 years. And much of what Mahathir has said can be viewed on YouTube. All Kit Siang has to do is to search YouTube to see the evidence that Mahathir himself has many times called Kit Siang and DAP racists, anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers, etc.

So why is Kit Siang upset and is demanding that Najib debate him and prove that he and DAP are racists, anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers, and whatnot? It was Mahathir who has been saying this and he has been saying this for 50 years since the 1960s. Mahathir even said ‘Melayu mudah lupa’ and ‘Takkan Melayu hilang di dunia’ and so on, in reference to how the Chinese, meaning DAP, are trying to grab political power from the Malays and use Malays as proxies or ‘Ali Baba’.

ABDUL HADI / HIMPUNAN FASTAQIM / KOTA BHARU

DAP has zero seats in Kelantan but still wanted PAS to listen to them and do what DAP wants

It is weird that Kit Siang is so upset with Najib (which his last three blog postings of 5,000 words show) when Mahathir has been saying non-stop for 50 years that DAP is racist, anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Malay Rulers, etc. And in spite of this Kit Siang still anoints Mahathir as the de facto opposition leader and the man anointed to ‘save Malaysia’. Najib is just saying what Mahathir has been saying for 50 years. What is wrong with Kit Siang? Has he taken leave of his senses?

Up to 2008 DAP’s only aspiration was to win Penang. That is the only state as far as DAP was concerned where the Chinese can rule, which they have since Merdeka. When DAP found out that Mahathir wanted to give Penang to the opposition to punish Tun Abdullah Abdullah Badawi, they shifted their entire focus to Penang. Even Lim Guan Eng abandoned Melaka and shifted to Penang.

They thought only Penang would fall, and it was going to fall because Mahathir wanted to give that island-state to the opposition (if not it may not fall). But when Perak and Selangor fell as well (as did Kedah, but to PAS, just like Kelantan), DAP realised that it may actually be possible for the whole of Malaysia to fall to the opposition and not just the ‘Chinese’ states like Penang, Perak, Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan, etc.

That was when DAP ‘upgraded’ its ambition and aspiration. No longer was DAP just focused on winning Penang. It was now aiming to win Penang, Perak, Selangor, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Sarawak, and many more states, resulting in DAP winning federal power. The 2008 and 2013 general elections have shown that it was difficult but not impossible as they had originally thought.

But then why bother to aim for Putrajaya if all DAP can win is 45 out of 222 parliament seats? Would Pakatan Harapan not need 126 parliament seats to walk in to Putrajaya (as Rafizi Ramli predicts they will win) and should DAP not win at least 64 of those 126 seats to be in charge? That would be how one would look at it if one is of a simple mind. DAP does not need 64 seats. All DAP needs is 45 seats, or even less, as long as the rest of the parliamentarians are DAP’s proxies or Ali Baba (or at least 20 of them).

I mean how many times have we heard that companies with 70% Bumiputera interest and only 30% Chinese interest are actually Chinese-controlled because the 70% Bumiputera is Ali Baba? So can’t DAP control only 40 or 45 out of 120 or 130 parliament seats and still call the shots because the balance of the seats are Ali Baba (like in Perak in 2008, and in Selangor, now, since Khalid Ibrahim was ousted as Menteri Besar)?

Kit Siang must think we are stupid to buy his argument that with only 40 or 45 parliament seats DAP cannot control the federal government if Pakatan Harapan walks into Putrajaya. DAP has zero seats in Kelantan and they still want PAS to listen to them. And when PAS did not listen to them DAP closed down Pakatan Rakyat and sacked PAS from the opposition coalition.

Since 2008 DAP has been talking about who should be the Prime Minister in the event Pakatan wins federal power. Have you not noticed that DAP never talks about who should be the Deputy Prime Minister? Why not talk about who should be the Deputy Prime Minister as well so that Pakatan can demonstrate transparency, as what DAP always says we must do?

The reason they only talk about who should be the Prime Minister and not talk about who should be the Deputy Prime Minister is because DAP wants the post of Deputy Prime Minister for themselves. So of course DAP cannot talk about who should be the Deputy Prime Minister because if it is revealed that DAP will be taking that post and Kit Siang is going to become the Deputy Prime Minister it would trigger an outrage amongst the Malays as well as even within the ranks of the opposition. Even Chinese think this is a silly and dangerous idea that will be harmful to race relations.

So Kit Siang needed to keep his cards close to his chest and not reveal this. It was only last month that Mahathir finally agreed to Kit Siang becoming the Deputy Prime Minister (and Finance Minister), but on condition that he agrees to Mukhriz as Prime Minister. And this was supposed to be a closely-guarded secret. But then Mahathir went and opened his mouth and now the shit has hit the fan (although Mahathir did a u-turn later and said it was a slip of the tongue).

But it was too late. The damage had already been done. Mahathir had let the cat out of the bag and once out you cannot get it back in. The problem with secret deals is they tend to get leaked and the more secretive they are the more likely they would get leaked.

Until December last year Kit Siang was still adamant that Pakatan’s candidate for Prime Minister is Anwar Ibrahim. Mahathir knew that the only way for Kit Siang to budge would be to give him the post of Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, as what he wanted. Only then will Kit Siang dump Anwar in favour of Mukhriz. So Kit Siang’s almost ten-year dream finally materialised. But this was never meant to become public knowledge.

This is the second panic for Kit Siang in almost two months. The first panic was during Umno’s December 2016 assembly when Najib revealed that the next general election is going to be a contest between the Umno-Malay-led Barisan Nasional and the DAP-Chinese-led Pakatan Harapan. That was when Kit Siang contacted Mahathir and the secret deal was hatched, as Mahathir himself confirmed. This second panic a few days ago was when Mahathir revealed that DAP wanted the post of Deputy Prime Minister.

Mahathir did a u-turn but it was too late: the cat is now out of the bag and cannot be put back in

For all intents and purposes Mahathir has sunk his own ship. Rafizi said there are two possible scenarios in the next general election. It is either 130: 92 or 96:126 Barisan Nasional versus Pakatan Harapan. From the looks of it Mahathir has just made it 130:92 in favour of Barisan Nasional, although I would place my bet on 150:72 Barisan Nasional versus Pakatan Harapan. Anyway, let’s see what happens in the next general election.

The beautiful thing is Najib caught Kit Siang with his pants down. And that caused Kit Siang to panic on 3rd December 2016. Then when Mahathir made the mistake of letting the cat out of the bag, Kit Siang panicked yet again. Had it been any other personality who said Kit Siang wants the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister posts, the opposition would have whacked that person. But when Mahathir himself exposed it, this stunned the opposition and left Kit Siang with nowhere to hide.
