The Umno-aligned group vows to hold another protest outside the bungalow of Penang CM Lim Guan Eng if he does not heed the call to step down.

(FMT) – Resign as chief minister and drop your endorsement of the Bersih rally, Umno Youth told Penang CM Lim Guan Eng today.

These were part of its six demands made to him in a protest outside Komtar here today.

The Umno Youth-led Pemuda Bangkit (Rise of Youths) protesters also demanded that the Penang Government build more low-cost homes and control development on the hills.

They also wanted a stop to uncontrolled development, which was causing flash floods, and hillside development, which they alleged caused landslides.

“We would like to urge the CM to stop reclaiming land. This has disturbed the ecosystem and negatively impacted on the income of fisherfolk,” the memorandum signed by six Umno leaders read.

It was co-signed by state Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim together with his four youth wing leaders and Umno Youth executive council member Jefri Salim.

The memorandum was handed over to the Chief Minister’s information officer Zahar Zainal by Rafizal and Deputy Umno Youth Chief Khairul Azwan Harun.

The Pemuda Bangkit group had demanded that Lim step down at a similar rally in Gurney Drive a few weeks ago, due to his corruption charges in the High Court a few months ago.

Lim has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Meanwhile, the group, which had used red shirts before, appeared today in black shirts.

When asked on the significance of the colour change, Khairul said “it did not matter”.

“We represent all colours, except yellow. We are red, black and ‘macam-macam warna’ (all sorts of colour). We do not care.

“What is important is the spirit of solidarity and also our fight, which is (to topple a state) led by a corrupt leader.

“So, do not go accusing other leaders. Don’t make demands on other leaders when you are corrupt yourself. You have no right to do so and no right to speak out,” Khairul said.
