(Malaysia Outlook) – Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who was made the Selangor Crown Prince on Saturday Oct 8, had a been a victim of slander and character assassination by the opposition parties during the state Menteri Besar crisis in 2014.

Social media commentator Raja Sara Petra, who is a cousin to Tengku Amir Shah, said the Crown Prince was attacked by the opposition merely because the Sultan of Selangor refused to appoint the opposition’s choice of Selangor menteri besar to replace outgoing Khalid Ibrahim.

“He is not a politician and neither has he ever issued any political statement. Yet they attack him just because his father, the Sultan would not agree to the appointment of the opposition choice for the menteri besar,” she said in a Facebook positing today.

“Tengku Amir, like so many of us, has been a victim of slander and character assassination although he was not involved in politics.”

Raja Sara pointed out that the Selangor Palace had always been, and would always remain, above politics for past 59 years since independence.

Politicians however, she said had always tried to drag the palace into politics, referring to recent attempt by Pribumi chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad to convince His Majesty the King to sack Prime Minister Najib Razak.

She described the palace situation was like a double edged sword.
