Mahathir – Anwar political remarriage in the pipeline
(Malaysia Outlook) – Dr Mahathir Mohamad – Anwar Ibrahim political remarriage is in the pipeline as Mahathir moves to unite all opposition parties probably under his leadership to achieve his political agenda.
Mahathir has given his strongest indication yet today that he would work closely with his former deputy Anwar to topple Barisan Nasional in the next general election (GE14).
The newly registered Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman said he had no issue not to work with Anwar as how he had swallowed his ego to forge political intimacy with Lim Kit Siang and DAP.
On Monday Sep 5, Mahathir paid a “courtesy call” on Anwar at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
The duo shook hands as a sign of conciliation after parting ways 18 years ago.
Mahathir claimed that he did not hold any political discussions with Anwar to forge cooperation.
He claimed that the meeting was strictly to lend his support to Anwar’s application to declare the National Security Act as unconstitutional.
But he has given his strongest hint today that he would work with anyone to topple BN.
“If I can work with Kit Siang, why can’t I work with Anwar?” the former premier told newsmen at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) office in Kuala Lumpur today
The Home Ministry announced yesterday that PPBM’s registration had been provisionally approved.
Mahathir, his son Mukhriz and PPBM pro-tem president Muhyiddin Yassin were at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) office in Kuala Lumpur to receive official provisional approval for PPBM.
Lay public can now apply to be PPBM members from Sept 14.
