Raja Sara Petra: At least I’m honest

Daughter of popular blogger laments double standards among members of the Opposition when issues hit close to home.

(FMT) – Raja Sara Petra has hit out at her detractors who slammed her for criticising DAP’s Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud and implied they were practicing double standards.

Sara, the daughter of popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, said she noticed that a number of people who “whacked” her not only failed to counter her points, but had made disparaging remarks about her in relation to her father’s views and actions.

Ironically, she said, these critics were the same people who defended DAP’s Sungai Pinang Assemblywoman Lim Siew Khim by saying she should not be blamed for what her father did.

Lim’s father, Lim Keat Seong, 68, is currently being investigated for his alleged involvement in a bribes for affordable homes scandal in Penang. The Penang DAP has stated that it will not probe Siew Khim over the matter as she was not involved in it.

“When it comes to one of their own, you do not carry the sins of your father. I, however, am guilty of the sins of my father,” she told FMT.

Sara went on to state that her decision to speak out yesterday was due to such hypocrisy which, she noted, had been going on “for too long.”

Those in the Opposition, she added, set certain standards for others but exempted themselves from these rules.

“I am what I am and I do not pretend to be what I am not. At least I am honest enough to not wear a mask like most Malaysians do.

“I am a Malay who went to university without a single sen of government money. Then we have Malays who went to ITM (Institut Teknologi Mara) or who benefitted from the NEP (New Economic Policy) who claim they are fighting for justice and equality for all Malaysians.

“That is the height of hypocrisy. If you want to debate me then focus on the issues, not attack my bloodline. Yes, I am the daughter of Raja Petra and am proud of it. So live with that.”
