The group of about 20 people, led by Ali Tinju, wants the former DPM to ‘debate’ them on his alleged affair with a businesswoman.

(FMT) – About 20 protesters from Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) gathered in front of the Jalan Duta Court Complex here to challenge former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin to a debate.

They want him to debate them on his alleged affair with a businesswoman. Muhyiddin has denied any such affair.

The group, led by JMM secretary-general Hamdan Mohd Salleh and controversial Umno figure Ali Tinju, gathered as early as 8am outside the gates of the court complex, where the divorce proceedings of former public prosecutor Stanley Clement Augustin and his estranged wife Nika Gee Siew Yee, was set to take place.

Former Umno deputy president Muhyiddin has been dragged into the case by a blogger.

In his divorce filing last year, Augustin had alleged that Gee was involved in an affair with a political figure – out of which, he claimed, she had gained financially and other material benefits.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin later named Muhyiddin as the politician – an allegation the latter has vehemently denied, calling it slanderous and unfounded.
