(The Star) – PAS has yet to make a decision on whether it will be taking part in the upcoming Bersih 5 rally.

“There has yet to be a decision,” was the response PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) provided The Star Online in a text message on Thursday.

He was asked if the party would be involved in the street demonstration planned for October.

On whether PAS had received a formal invitation by Bersih, Tuan Ibrahim said: “Up to now, there has been no invitation. And no discussion”.

On Wednesday, Bersih 2.0 confirmed that it would be holding a Bersih 5 rally after having been given a conditional green light by the police.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had stated that the rally would be allowed to take place so long as organisers adhered to the stipulations under the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012.

No date or venue has been fixed for the rally.

PAS had previously elected not to mobilise its members for the Bersih 4 rally held in August last year, which resulted in a notable lack of Malay rally-goers.
