Former law minister dares BN to walk the talk and compete in a clean and fair election, without the ‘referee being on their side’.

(FMT) – Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad “will gladly” accept Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak’s challenge to be the opposition leader, Zaid Ibrahim said today.

The former law minister churned out a series of tweets in response to Salleh’s blog posting yesterday, which challenged Mahathir to fight Barisan Nasional (BN) openly as an opposition politician, instead of hiding behind non-political or non-partisan movements.

This was the right thing to do, Salleh had said, given that Mahathir was “already performing a de-facto role (in the Opposition)”.

“I (a)m sure Tun M will gladly accept Salleh’s dare to be opposition leader if BN is willing to make our election free and fair (sic).”

Zaid also claimed that with money and propaganda, BN can win elections and be proud of it.

“They use money, projects and propaganda, and they are proud of winning. Even the ‘referee’ is on their side,” he said referring to the Election Commission.

“Salleh and company have no guts to fight in a clean and fair election; that’s why they keep making challenges against Tun (Mahathir),” Zaid tweeted.
