PKR confirms former MP detained by MACC

S-Manikavasagam

(MMO) – Former Kapar MP S. Manickavasagam was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, his former party PKR confirmed today.

PKR vice president Chua Tian Chang, who revealed this, also said that the former lawmaker has since been released.

“We heard the news late last night and apparently this morning he was bailed out,” he told a press conference today.

The Batu MP clarified, however, that PKR did not know why Manickavasagam was detained, but would contact him for information.

Chua added that PKR will not comment further on the issue until it was fully up to date.

“As soon as we can, the leadership would like to meet him and to get explanation from him. So far the news is sketchy,” he added.

Manickavasagam was Kapar MP from 2008 until 2013, but was not chosen to defend his seat. PKR instead replaced him with G. Manivannan.
