Salleh: PKR the party that cries wolf
(MMO) – PKR leaders have a history of making unsubstantiated corruption allegations for political mileage, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak said today.
Commenting to an internal row in PKR stemming from a leaked message by secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, the communications and multimedia minister said the opposition party has used the tactic as far back as two decades ago.
“In 1998, Anwar Ibrahim announced that he had six boxes of evidence regarding corrupt acts committed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Daim Zainuddin and other key people in Mahathir’s government.
“For ten years until 2008, however, not a single piece of paper was ever produced, let alone six boxes or even just one box,” Salleh wrote in a blog entry titled “PKR and corruption”.
Rafizi’s predecessor, Saifuddin Nasution, also made similar allegations against Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim ahead of PKR’s move to oust the latter as Selangor mentri besar, publicly displaying a thick folder of purported evidence on Khalid’s alleged corruption,
But not a single shred was ultimately produced and Saifuddin withdrew the claim when sued by Khalid who never got the job back, Salleh pointed out.
