Press Statement by Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui

Peter Chin Fah Kui

Recently, I was alerted and became aware to an on-line publication by the Sarawak Report of the image of a cheque dated sometime in 2013 that is supposed to be issued by Mohd Najib Tun Razak in favour of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party. This publication at this time of the 11th Sarawak Elections is to cast a disparaging image of SUPP and consequently affecting the electability of BN/SUPP candidates.

While the IT team of SUPP at its Headquarters in Kuching is working on the authenticity of the image in question, as the former President of SUPP (2012 to 2014), I wish to put a stop to this line of witch-hunting against the current leadership of SUPP that was elected into office in September, 2014.

The date on the image of the cheque (blurred in a few spots) was sometime in 2013. I want to stress that Party funding responsibilities has always been squarely on the shoulders of the Party President. I was the Party President in 2013.

This publication by Sarawak Report is in my view an effort to cast negative aspersions of the SUPP leadership then and now hoping to mislead voters from voting on current issues which are important to the peoples of Sarawak.

I urge voters everywhere in Sarawak but more particularly those who are voting in constituencies which are contested by BN/SUPP candidates not to be swayed by such tactics of the Opposition. This is another example of coordinated attacks with international parties meddling in the Sarawak elections. I want to assure every voter that SUPP has not done anything wrong under the existing laws of our country.

Issued by Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui in Miri, Sarawak.
