Muhyiddin: I am not Kit Siang’s ‘new recruit’

(The Star) – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin denies that he has been recruited by veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang in the fight to “save Malaysia”.

Lim on Saturday announced in a speech at the Johor Pakatan Harapan Chinese New Year open house in Muar that the former deputy prime minister was his latest recruit in his “save Malaysia” agenda.

Lim cited Muhyiddin’s Chinese New Year open house speech in Pagoh where he talked about the urgent and imperative need for Malaysians to united to “save Malaysia” from becoming a “failed state”.

“I would like to clarify that the statement was his personal view,” said Muhyiddin in a statement on Tuesday.

“I was never recruited by anyone to uphold the truth.

“What I have been saying comes from my own conscience about the plight of the people and the country,” he said.

Muhyiddin said that he understood the concerns of people over what would happen to Malaysia due to the various crises in the country.

“That is why I took the stand to speak,” he said.

Muhyiddin, who is Umno deputy president, also denied releasing a statement that he is out to topple the party.
