Mahathir now officially the head of the Anti-Najib Campaign

(Malay Mail Online) – A group of branch chiefs tarred as “shit-stirrers” by Umno earlier today has announced the addition of former prime minister and party president Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to its ranks as patron.

The group calling itself the Coalition of Branch Chiefs Malaysia (GKCM) said Dr Mahathir officially announced his involvement in a meeting with 21 of its central committee members at the Albukhary Foundation office here yesterday.

“Tun expressed his pride towards GKCM’s advancement in such a short time,” the group said in a statement on its Facebook page, using Dr Mahathir’s title.

“In addition, GKCM is a group of those who dare to speak on the truth inside Umno itself.”

The group posted a 2-minute video of Dr Mahathir addressing the 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal along with its statement, which ended with the veteran statesman announcing his support for GKCM.

“I was invited to be the patron of GKCM Umno, and I accept,” Dr Mahathir said in the video, followed by an applause from GKCM members who were present.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor dismissed GKCM as “shit-stirrers” this morning, after the latter planned to table a motion against party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

According to the Umno secretary-general, GKCM would not even succeed in its plan, which alsoincluded bringing the delayed party polls forward.
