He says she, like her husband and daughter, is keen to tarnish Malaysia’s image

(Free Malaysia Today) – Cheras Umno’s Syed Ali Alhabshee has chastised Pakatan Harapan for urging Washington to suspend talks with Malaysia to prevent conflicts of interest in view of the US Justice Department’s corruption probe that involves Prime Minister Najib Razak’s stepson and also his close associate Take Jho Low.

In a statement posted on his blog today, Syed Ali said it was “a joke to call for a stall in trade deals and diplomatic ties based on mere assumptions and suspicion.”

He did not address the question of interest conflicts, appearing to be more concerned about the effect the opposition’s call would have on the country’s image.

He aimed most of his fire at Opposition Leader Wan Azizah Ismail and the politicians in her family.

“First it was the husband who tried his best to tarnish Malaysia’s image by aligning himself with former US Vice-President Al Gore,” he said. (Gore voiced support for Anwar’s Reformasi movement during a visit to Malaysia in November 1998.)

“Then his daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar, flew to the US to seek its support in getting her father, who was convicted for sodomy in a court of law, released.

“While there, she alleged inappropriate medical treatment was given to DS Anwar Ibrahim.

“I do note that every time DS Anwar lands himself in jail, his family and supporters will cry foul, allege that his medical condition has worsened drastically and blame the doctors for negligence.

“And now Pakatan Harapan’s leader and DS Anwar’s wife wants the US to sever trade negotiations with our Prime Minister, DS Najib Razak.

“Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail also wants the US President, Barack Obama, to cancel his meeting with our PM because he is apparently being investigated for suspected corruption by the US State Department.
