PSM: We never opposed Pakatan’s common policy framework
(The Star) – Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) central committee member S. Arutchelvan (pic) has shot down claims by Opposition MPs that the party does not support Pakatan Rakyat’s common policy framework.
In his statement, Arutchelvan sought to “address the utter lies” by DAP’s Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming and Amanah’s Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.
Though the party wished the new Pakatan Harapan Baru coalition all the best, it also demanded an explanation.
In 2013, Pakatan secretariat representative Sabrimi Sidek wrote the first official letter to PSM on Aug 1 asking if the party agreed to the PR manifesto and the common position.
“We clearly stated in our own memorandum that we support Pakatan’s manifesto and the Buku Jingga (Orange Book),” said Arutchelvan.
He also demanded an explanation to a statement alleging PSM did not agree with article 153 of the common policy framework, which is regarding the special rights of the Bumiputera.
“Where and when was this discussion was held, who attended and where is the evidence?” he added.
According to Arutchelvan, article 153 was never discussed in any of the letters exchanged – or the three meetings held – between PSM and Pakatan.
“PSM is neither angry nor desperate that we are not invited for the round-table as we believe that is the prerogative of the organiser but we cannot tolerate blatant lies and manipulation,” he said.
