Khairuddin Abu Hassan, the man in the eye of the storm

As what Khairuddin said, if they want to bring down Najib then it has to be done before the end of this year. If they allow Najib to hold on to power until next year then it would no longer be possible to bring him down.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Khairuddin Abu Hassan is the man tasked with the job of hounding Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak until he throws in the towel and resigns his post. And to make sure that Najib is not able to dissolve Parliament and call for a fresh parliamentary election once a vote of no confidence against him is successfully passed next month, Khairuddin has travelled to a few countries to lodge police reports to try to get those bank accounts said to be linked to the Prime Minister blocked.

Without money Najib cannot call for a fresh parliamentary election once the vote of no confidence is passed and would instead have to resign.

The police said it has classified the move to oust the Prime Minister as an attempt to topple the government and has launched an investigation to get to the bottom of this conspiracy.

If that is so then all the police need to do is to call in Khairuddin for interrogation because on the 22nd of July 2015 Khairuddin boasted that within a week Najib was going to be history.

The 29th of July was the date that the coup was supposed to be launched but which Najib pre-empted by removing all those who were the instruments in that coup.

Khairuddin knows what was going on and also knows when it was going to happen and who would make it happen. Therefore Khairuddin knows all the details that the police need to be able to do a successful investigation and to get to the bottom of the whole thing.

Khairuddin met Clare Rewcastle of Sarawak Report and proudly uploaded the photographs on to the internet. Khairuddin told his close associates that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad together with Tun Daim Zainuddin and Anwar Ibrahim are the masterminds and movers behind the coup to oust Najib.

Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s trip to London to meet Dr Mahathir, in fact, said Khairuddin, was the meeting to seal that alliance.

Khairuddin was in the dinner that was held with a number of business tycoons a few months ago that included Vincent Tan, Francis Yeoh and Kamal Sadiqqi to discuss financing an operation to oust Najib.

The budget was placed at RM2 billion, which the tycoons agreed they would pool their resources to finance. Part of the funding was to finance the cost of paying at least 120-130 Members of Parliament to join the vote of no confidence plus to pay off journalists from the international media to conduct a media blitz against Najib.

PKR’s President, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said that the opposition should focus on only one thing: bring down the Prime Minister and Umno. So Pakatan Rakyat 2.0 must place this as its top priority and the coalition must put aside its political differences and work with both Umno and PAS if necessary.

PKR has already spoken to PAS and PAN and will soon be speaking to DAP to get them to agree to include PAS in the group although DAP might not quite see eye-to-eye with PAS. If DAP can agree to work with Umno in its effort to oust Najib and Umno why can’t DAP also agree to work with PAS since everyone is on the same page?

The argument is simple. Najib must be brought down. But it is difficult if not impossible to bring down Najib unless Umno can agree to this. And it appears that many in Umno are defending Najib and are propping him up. Hence they have to bring down Umno to bring down Najib.

Everyone can see this and agrees to this, even Dr Mahathir, Daim and many others in Umno. And they agree that a vote of confidence is not possible unless the vote were to be supported by Umno as well as the opposition. And if PAS were not included it would also not happen. So DAP has to agree to work with both PAS and the anti-Najib group in Umno if they want to see success.

As what Khairuddin said, if they want to bring down Najib then it has to be done before the end of this year. If they allow Najib to hold on to power until next year then it would no longer be possible to bring him down.

And the opposition alone cannot bring Najib down. They just do not have the numbers. Dr Mahathir and Daim also cannot bring him down as well. They, too, do not have the numbers. This can only work if both sides of the political divide unite and DAP puts aside its hatred for PAS and PAS puts aside its hatred for PAN.

And to make sure it succeeds a budget of RM2 billion would be required. So they will need those business tycoons to fund it. And with so many tycoons who are merely proxies for Dr Mahathir and Daim it is not that difficult to get them to pool their resources and come out with the RM2 billion.
