The Prime Minister reiterated that he won’t step down and wants everybody to wait for the PAC report on 1MDB.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Several Umno division heads who attended a luncheon meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, ahead of the party’s 69th anniversary celebrations in the evening, disclosed that the theme was that everybody should wait for the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to complete its probe on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

“He said wrongdoers would not be protected,” said one Umno division head. “Everybody just nodded their heads.”

Najib, according to an Umno Sabah division head, reiterated what he told the Sabah People’s Gathering in Tawau on Sunday. “He said that he would not step down as long as he had the support of the people,” said the division head. “He said that he never brought down anybody in politics to go up.”

Najib apparently mentioned that former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had his problems while in office but he “supported him”.

The Prime Minister reportedly also touched on Tabung Haji and the GST.

“Tabung Haji was a business deal and the members would have benefited from the purchase of land from 1MDB,” Najib reportedly said. “It had to back out of the deal because it was purposely twisted and interpreted.”

Likewise, the GST was a good measure, Najib claimed. “The people would realize the benefits after some time. I have been in politics 40 years and it was to help the people.”
