(Harakah) – There is one thing glaringly missing from the 11 cost-cutting measures on public sector expenditure announced by Prime Minister Najib Razak that caught the attention of a PAS leader.

“How much public money that can be saved from the 11 initiatives to cut public sector expenditure? What’s the Prime Minister’s target?

How can the people know whether Prime Minister has achieved the goal of reducing public sector expenditure?” asked PAS vice president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a Facebook posting Dec 31.

In his statement, Najib had stopped short of giving a figure to measure how effective the 11 cost-cutting measures that included a 5 to 10 percent cut on entertainment allowances for top government officials, 5 percent reduction on government buildings, cut in claimable toll facility for top government servants and changes to the eligibility of civil servants for domestic and international flight tickets.

Tuan Ibrahim said without those numbers, it would be impossible to measure the success of the Najib’s 11 cost-cutting measures.

“How long does it take to reach the target? If fails, what is the appropriate action to be taken against the Prime Minister?” he added.
