The online buzz, especially among the pro-Umno bloggers, is that a fresh sodomy case has been allegedly reported against Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.

However Anwar is taking all this in his stride, attending a Peace and Reconciliation in Southeast Asia conference in Jakarta.

Anwar in his tweets said that he will be at the conference with former Thai prime minister Thaksin Sinawatra and Nobel peace prize recipient and Timor Leste ex-president Jose Ramos-Horta.

He also said that Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will be the keynote speaker at the conference.

Thaksin lives in self-exile in Dubai while Ramos, the Timor Leste president from 2007 to 2012, was a co-recipient of the 1996 Nobel peace prize.

Thaksin was the former prime minister of Thailand from 2001 until 2006, when he was overthrown in a military coup.

Yesterday pro-Umno blogger Papagomo claimed that a university student had filed a police report against Anwar, alleging sodomy.

The blogger claimed that the report was made in a police station in one of the northern states in the country.

“It is not known if the report is real or not but what is certain is that all embassies in Malaysia must not to protect Anwar if he decides to hide himself like he did in the previous sodomy case,” wrote the blogger.

When contacted today, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said no such report had been lodged.

“No report so far,” he told FMT.
