Make stand on Azmin’s ‘sex acts’ issue, Khalid told

(NST) – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leaders want Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to make his stand on the issue of PKR deputy president, Azmin Ali’s alleged sex pictures.

PKR Wanita chief Zuraidah Kamaruddin said she was disappointed with Khalid for telling reporters he had no comments on the pictures published by blogs and print media allegedly showing Azmin engaged in sex acts with a woman.

Zuraidah, who was speaking at a press conference by PKR MPs and state and division leaders in defence of Azmin at the PKR headquarters here yesterday, said Khalid’s response could send the wrong message to the people.

She said: “Khalid could have refrained from commenting on the issue as it involved sex, when met by reporters after the Selangor executive council meeting recently.

“But I feel he should be more careful as his ‘no comment’ response could be misconstrued by people, especially since PKR is preparing to face the general election now.”

Zuraidah said although there could be some misunderstandings between leaders within the party, this was a time for solidarity among them.

She said PKR leaders had accepted Azmin’s explanation that the pictures were fabricated and fully supported Azmin who was also the election director for the coming election.

Meanwhile, Telok Kemang member of parliament Datuk Kamarul Bahrin Abas said PKR saw no reason to conduct an investigation into the matter nor make a police report.

Azmin had announced on Thursday that he intended to sue Utusan Malaysia for RM100 million for defamation over the publication of the sex pictures.

Kamarul urged police to investigate the issue, add-ing that if the accusers had any proof, they should also hand it over to the police or religious authorities for action rather than publish it.
