King makes it into records book

(NST) – The Malaysia Book of Records yesterday presented Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah with a certificate recognising the monarch as the first sultan to be appointed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a second time.

Its managing director, Datuk Danny Ooi, handed over the certificate of recognition to the king at the Istana Negara in Jalan Duta here.  

Also present was Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.

Tuanku Abdul Halim  was Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the first time between Jan 21, 1970 and Sept 20, 1975. The ruler was appointed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for the second time effective Dec 13 last year.

In a separate event at Istana Negara,  Tuanku Hajah Haminah was presented a sash to honour the queen as the new royal patron of the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia.

Five members of the association handed over the sash to  its president, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, who in turn presented it to Tuanku Hajah Haminah.

The association’s deputy president, Raja Puan Muda of Perak Raja Nor Mahani Raja Shahar Shah and its chief commissioner, Datin Seri Zalillah Mohd Taib, were also present.
