Najib Wants Cooperation Between Bumiputera Companies To Be Enhanced
(Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today expressed hope for the cooperation between Bumiputera companies, regardless of their fields, to be enhanced for mutual and continuous benefits.
Taking the success of Astro Awani and the Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Industry and Entrepreneurs (NEF) in organising the NEF-Awani ICT Awards 2011 and NEF-Awani ICT Fest as an example, Najib said the cooperation showed by the Bumiputera companies was really commendable.
“This is an example of the cooperation that I hope will take place continuously, not only in the ICT community, but also in other economic communities.
“I really hope government agencies focusing directly or indirectly on Bumiputera development, such as Teraju, MARA, AIM, MDeC, Cradle and government-linked companies like TM, will give their full supports to NEF so that the good initiatives can be expanded further,” he said.
Najib said this in his special video message showed at the NEF-Awani ICT Awards 2011 Gala Dinner at the Putra World Trade Centre here tonight.
On the NEF-Awani ICT Awards, Najib said they differed from any other awards as the organiser clearly had a strategic direction and good intention in its approach to develop Bumiputera ICT companies.
The prime minister also recognised the NEF as the sole Bumiputera association fighting for the interest of Bumiputera ICT industry and entrepreneurs.
While congratulating the winners and apologising for his absence at the gala dinner, Najib said he would try to meet with the winners at a later date.
“InsyaAllah (God willing), I will make a plan with the NEF to hold a special tea party for the winners later,” he said.
Approximately 200 Bumiputera ICT entrepreneurs and companies contested for the awards this year as compared to 100 last year.
