Ramasamy, Nga to face DAP disciplinary team on Thursday
(BERNAMA) – Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy and Perak DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming are to face the DAP disciplinary committee on Thursday.
Committee chairman Tan Kok Wai said the committee will look into the complaints lodged against Ramasamy over various breaches of discipline and the allegation that Nga abused his powers while he was a state executive councillor.
“The committee will meet on Thursday at 4pm to look into these,” he told Bernama.
Four complaints have been lodged against Ramasamy and one against Nga by the party’s Greenwood branch in Ipoh.
Ramasamy was involved in war of words recently with DAP chairman Karpal Singh, which resulted in a gag order being imposed and the party’s top leadership forming a three-man panel to resolve the issue.
The high-powered panel comprising DAP lifelong advisor Dr Chen Man Hin, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced that the “godfather-warlord” spat was over.
However, Karpal on Saturday called for a meeting of the disciplinary committee soon to decide on the complaints lodged against Ramasamy.
In response to the call, Tan said the disciplinary committee had actually set Thursday to discuss the matter as its members were busy with the Chinese New Year “open house” events over the past few weeks.
“I hope the party members will not go to the media to highlight the disciplinary matters. He (Karpal Singh) can always call me to check when we are going to meet,” he said.
Tan also said that besides the Ramasamy and Nga issues, the disciplinary committee would also probe a demonstration by a group of party members against Johor DAP chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau in Muar, Johor, in December last year.
The group was reportedly unhappy with Boo who, it claimed, had planned to field his own candidate to contest the Bentayan state seat in Johor in the next general election.
