Hasan told to vacate seat won on PAS ticket

(Harakah Daily) – Following former Selangor state Exco Dr Hasan Ali’s decision not to appeal his sacking from PAS, he has been told to vacate the Gombak Setia state assembly seat he won on a PAS ticket in 2008.

Information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Hasan should vacate his seat since he had so much hatred for the Islamic party gauging from his many of his statements as reported by UMNO-owned media.

“It is his right to hate someone, but one would like to remind him not to blame others for his own fault.

“I advise him, if he hates PAS, and still has some dignity left, please resign as Gombak Setia assemblyman,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

Earlier, Hasan said he would not appeal against his sacking from the party on January 8 amid a series of media outburst by the former Selangor PAS commissioner criticising PAS for being part of Pakatan Rakyat.

Hasan had also outlined nine reasons why he would not appeal the sacking, including his incapability to carry out duties as Selangor state exco in charge of Islamic Affairs, Infrastructure, Malay Culture and Public Amenities, the Exco portfolio which had since been restructured after his sacking.

“Why blame others? Just admit you are wrong. Nobody had intervened when he was holding the portfolio,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

Speaking to Malay-language daily Sinar Harian last weekend, PAS president Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang stressed that it was now proven that the party’s decision to sack Hasan was correct based on his media statements.

According to Hadi, it was better for Hasan to be independent since he had been giving statements based on his personal opinions, which were then linked to PAS’s policies.
