Two companies land RM1.7b MRT contracts
Two local construction companies have been awarded contracts for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) amounting to RM1.738 billion.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Local construction companies Ahmad Zaki Sdn Bhd (AZSB) and IJM Corporation have been awarded Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) contracts totalling RM1.738 billion.
In a press statement, MRT project owners MRT Corp said that the two companies will be involved in construction works from the “Maluri Portal” to the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn station along the Sungai Buloh-Kajang line.
MRT Corp chief executive officer Azhar Abdul Hamid said that both companies had a solid track record when it came to their projects.
“Both companies are helmed by an experienced management team and have a solid track record of delivering projects on time and within costs,” he said.
According to the statement, IJM would be appointed as the main contractor for the construction and completion of a “viaduct gateway” and other “associated works” from Maluri Portal to the Plaza Phoenix station.

IJM’s contract was worth RM974 million, while AZSB’s was worth RM764 million.
According to its website, AZSB was previously involved in many construction projects, including the Sepang Formula One race track and the Federal Territory Mosque.
