Perak PKR member held for distributing CDs

(The Star) – A Perak PKR member, Tan Kim Huat, was arrested by the police for distributing CDs entitled Bubar DUN (Dissolve the state assembly) at a court complex here.

The title was in reference to the political situation in Perak.

Tan, who among supporters who arrived from Perak in a bus to support Anwar, was later taken to the Sentul police headquarters.

PKR strategic director Tian Chua confirmed Tan’s arrest.

“The police told me that they will look into the content of the CDs,” Tian Chua told reporters.

Tian Chua was among those unable to enter the High Court to hear the sodomy trial proceedings yesterday.

Only 25 passes were distributed to press members as early as 7am. Some were not able to enter, including PKR election campaign director Saifuddin Nasution, as the police barricaded the courtroom with tables.

In the courtroom, 11 benches of the public gallery were packed. Among those present were officials from the United States Embassy.

Anwar, who was seen shaking hands with the group, joked to one of the officials: “How come I always see you in court?”
