Please report fairly, press urged

(The Star) TAIPING: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir has called on the press to be fair and objective in their reporting.

He said what took place at last Thursday’s state assembly sitting was an uncivilised and irresponsible act on the part of Pakatan Rakyat representatives.

Dr Zambry said, for instance, some newspapers did not mention how he was attacked that day.

“They crossed the line to our side, they were irresponsible and uncivilised, but these things were not reported,” he told reporters after handing commendation letters to Umno grassroots leaders who were involved in the recent Bukit Gantang parliamentary by-election at Dewan Changkat Jering yesterday.

Dr Zambry insisted he just wanted “a bit of objectivity”, and that some bloggers had been okay in their reporting about the proceedings.

He also criticised former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin for telling lies in a Bahasa Malaysia tabloid, by claiming that the move by Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah to summon him and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham was a form of recognition.
