Karpal’s objections overruled, sedition trial in August

By Lee Wei Lian, The Malaysian Insider

Karpal Singh today failed to throw out the sedition charge against him as the Kuala Lumpur High Court rejected his arguments and set August 12 to 21 to hear the case.

The DAP chairman was charged with making seditious statements against the Sultan of Perak but he objected to the case, saying the prosecution's case against him was flawed and should be thrown out of court.

Karpal is to file an appeal against the decision to reject his prelimnary objection made by Judicial Commissioner Azman Abdullah.
