Perak sultan makes Zambry a Datuk Seri


(The Malaysian Insider) KUALA KANGSAR, April 19 – Barisan Nasional Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and three other people head a list of 800 bestowed awards and medals in conjunction with the 81st birthday today of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.

They have been conferred the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which carries the title “Datuk Seri”, Bernama reported today.

Sultan Azlan Shah had appointed Zambry as menteri besar after three lawmakers quit the ruling Pakatan Rakyat government and expressed support for Barisan Nasional.

The appointment is being contested in the courts although Zambry’s government has called for a state assembly meeting on May 7 to move on in the imbroglio that has put the state administration in a gridlock. Several others in Zambry’s executive council also received awards.

Meanwhile, the three others who received similar awards are Finance Minister II Datuk Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Kong Cho Ha and Orang Kaya-Kaya Panglima Kinta Seri Amar Diraja Datuk Dr Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan.

Armed Forces Director-General of Health Services Lt Gen Datuk Dr Sulaiman Abdullah and Chief of Navy Admiral Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Jaafar have been conferred the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS) which carries the title “Datuk Seri Panglima”.

Forty-four people have been bestowed awards which carry the title “Datuk”.

Among them are two recipients of the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM) are Perak senior state executive councillor Hamidah Osman and Malaysia’s ambassador to Ireland Raja Nazrin Raja Aznam.

Thirty-three people have been conferred the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title “Datuk”. They are Perak state executive councillor Dr Mah Hang Soon; Ipoh mayor Roshidi Hashim; Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department T. Murugiah; Kenering state assemblyman Mohd Tarmizi Idris; Rungkup state assemblyman Sha’arani Mohamad; National Archives director-general Sidek Jamil; National Housing Department director-general Yaakop Fakir Mohd.

Perak deputy state secretary Abu Bakar Said; Perak Public Works Department director Dr Safry Kamal Ahmad; Perak Forestry Department director Masran Salleh; Minerals and Geoscience Department technical services director Mohamad Noor Ayoob; TSH Resources Berhad deputy executive chairman Datuk Dr Tan Aik Pen.

Lt Col (Rtd) Justpall Singh Sandhu; principal senior consultant paediatrician at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Dr Amar Singh; consultant pathologist at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Dr Norain Karim; KTMB managing director Abdul Radzak Abdul Malek; Yu Kuan Huat of YNH Property Berhad; Cheah Keng Meng; Hamdan Ahmad; Mohd Azmi Othman; Dr Mukudan Krishnan; Dr Alagappa Muthiah.

Ang Piew Artist Sdn Bhd general manager Ong Ang Kieu; Masterskill Education Berhad chief executive officer Datuk R. Santhara Kumar; Dr Sarjeet Singh; Malaysian Dental Association president Dr S. Sivanesan; Ten Choo Lai; Wan Azahari Yom Ahmad; KL Kepong Bhd director Yeoh Eng Khoon; Remco managing director Mohd Syaifu Abdullah; Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Perak chairman Gan Tack Kong; Goon Eng Wah and Chung King Tong.

Nine people have been conferred the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS) which carries the title “Datuk”. They are Second Infantry Brigade commander Brig Gen Datuk Zulkifli Mansor; Lumut Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Hospital ENT specialist Brig Gen Dr Zulkaflay Rahman; Naval Region II commander First Admiral Syed Zahiruddin Putra; Commander of Naval Support First Admiral Abdul Rahman Abdul Karim; Naval Region III commander First Admiral Abdul Ghani Othman.

Air Force headquarters Assistant Chief of Staff (Operations) Brig Gen Datuk Mohammad Noh Mohd Said; Air Force Second Division commander Brig Gen Datuk Khairul Bakri Mustafa; Perak deputy chief police officer SAC I Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah and Perak Police Special Branch head SAC II Sulaiman Mohamad.

Among the seven people made Justices of the Peace (JPs) are former Gerik MP Datuk Dr Wan Hashim Wan Teh; K. Hari Krishnan, Chang Tong Ming and Maj (Rtd) Roslan Zakaria.

The sultan also bestowed the Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (PCM) on 10 people, the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP) on 45, the Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini (ACM) on 21 and the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) on 178.

A total of 222 people receive the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT), 257 the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) and 10 the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan (PLP).

Among the PCM recipients are Ipoh District police chief ACP Azisman Alias; Taiping Municipal Council president Omor Saad and Kerian district officer Ismail Hassan.

Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) News Network director Rachman Yeop Norodin, who is a former executive editor of Bernama, has been conferred the PMP.

Bernama Economic News Service editor Mikhail Raj Abdullah; New Straits Times (NST) Perak Bureau chief Muhammad Husairy Othman; Berita Harian Perak Bureau chief Ridzuan Yop; Tamil Nesan reporter S. Balakrishnan and Perak RTM reporter Samat Majid have been conferred the AMP.

Bernama Photo Unit deputy head Zid Omar; Utusan Malaysia reporter Angelina Sinyang; The Star reporters Sylvia Looi Lee Phing and Christina Koh Siew Kim and Nanyang Siang Pau reporter Tan Kay Aun have been conferred the PPT.

Berita Harian photographer Ikhwan Munir and Bernama photographer Md Dusa Abas are among the 257 people awarded the PJK.
