Wait for outcome of police probe, says Musa

(The Star) – The Attorney-General’s classification of the death of suspected car thief A. Kugan as murder does not contradict the Selangor police chief’s statement that there was no foul play, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

“There is no contradiction.

“What DCP Khalid (Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar) had said was based on the post-mortem report which found that Kugan died from pulmonary oedema, which is fluid in the lungs,” he said.

He expressed the hope that the public would not speculate on the case but wait for the outcome of police investigations.

Musa said the murder classification by Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail did not change anything.

”We are investigating it and we are not hiding anything,” he told reporters after visiting the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex here with Indonesian Police General Drs Bambang Hendarso Danuri and Brunei Commissioner of Police Datuk Zainuddin Jailani yesterday.

On the visit to the CIQ complex, Musa said that it was to see first-hand the situation at the Malaysian-Indonesian border and observe the Immigration procedures.

”We want to make sure that everything is done properly,” he said.
