The Azmin Ali sex scandal: it’s an inside job

Yes, this is the SOP for Malaysia. You are considered guilty unless you can prove you are innocent. And that is what the judge said 20 years ago in 1999 when he found Anwar guilty and sentence him to jail — Anwar had failed to prove his innocence.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

When Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was brought down with the crucifix scandal, it was an inside job.

When Anwar Ibrahim was brought down with the sex scandal, it was an inside job.

When Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was brought down with his son-in-law issue, it was an inside job.

When Najib Tun Razak was brought down with the 1MDB issue, it was an inside job.

Today, we have the Azmin Ali sex scandal and the PKR people are saying the opposition is behind it — meaning Umno. Actually, it is an inside job as well, just like in the many occasions in the past.

PAS, for sure, has no interest in bringing Azmin down because that will just mean the way would be clear for Anwar to take over as Prime Minister. And Azmin is useful for blocking Anwar — meaning Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad need not resign on or before May 2020.

Why would the opposition want to bring down Azmin Ali when it is better he be allowed to check Anwar Ibrahim?

Keeping Azmin around will guarantee that the split in PKR would continue, another advantage to Umno and PAS. It is better that PKR has two warlords constantly trying to kill each other. This would mean they will have no time to run the country, which will make the voters angry.

Pakatan Harapan is asking people to stop spreading fitnah. They did not think of saying this when they spread the fitnah about Malaysia’s RM1 trillion debts. They did not think of saying this when they spread the fitnah that RM1.1 billion worth of cash and valuables had been seized in Najib Tun Razak’s apartment in the Pavilion Residences. They did not think of saying this when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spread the fitnah that RM42 billion of 1MDB’s money, and maybe even more than RM50 billion, had disappeared into thin air. They did not think of saying this when Tian Chua spread the fitnah that Najib had dinner with Altantuya Shaariibuu on the Eiffel Tower (and which the French police denied).

This is why you must never use Google to translate from Malay to English

Anyway, two people were in that sex video and someone had issued that confession. So, if it was not Azmin or Haziq Aziz, then the police have to find the criminals behind these acts and bring them to justice. Failing that we have to assume the culprits are Azmin and Haziq. It is just like in Najib’s case where the government assumes the RM1.1 billion seized valuables (now reduced to less than RM700 million) were bought with money stolen from 1MDB, unless Najib can prove otherwise.
