Hadi gave the OK to expose ‘dedak cartel’ says son-in-law

Zaharudin Muhammad, the son-in-law of Abdul Hadi Awang, revealed that the PAS president had given him the go-ahead to expose the existence of a group called the “dedak cartel”.

(FMT) – Zaharudin, who has since been ordered by the Islamist party to explain his allegation, also said that critics had tried to persuade Hadi to get him to withdraw his claims, which he had made on Facebook.

“They gave half-baked information claiming that I engaged in some friendly-fire on Facebook. But in the end, I explained my reasons and Tok Guru gave his blessing and I have not retracted my claims,” he wrote on Facebook, referring to Hadi by his honorific title.

Zaharudin said a “bigger bomb” had been dropped, in the form of a “recording from Puchong” – an allusion to a 2016 audio recording about PAS receiving funds from Umno.

The recording is of Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz talking about Umno giving funds to PAS. In the recording, a man can be heard admitting that PAS leaders had received funds from Umno.

According to reports, Nik Abduh initially denied being the person speaking in the audio recording but came clean in February, claiming that Hadi had given him permission to make the denial.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Zaharudin will be asked to submit a report as “we cannot base the investigation on (what he wrote) on social media”.
