Kadir calls for probe into company linked to Johor royal family

(FMT) – A Kadir Jasin, an aide to the prime minister, has urged the police and the Inland Revenue Board to investigate a company believed to be linked to the Johor royal family.

In a personal posting on Facebook, former newsman Kadir took another swipe at the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, in a continuing exchange of words between Putrajaya and the palace.

His posting, made at 6pm, came hours after the prime minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad had referred to Tunku Ismail as “a little boy”.

Kadir said something needed to be done about the “little boy” which, like the Little Boy atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima during the second world war, was dangerous, although small and ignorant.

“Talking isn’t enough,” he said. “Plus, the little boy did say to give our 110%” a reference to a remark by Tunku Ismail on Saturday where he challenged those who wanted to “finish off” the royalty to go all out.

Kadir said: “So we ask the new Inspector-General of Police (Abdul Hamid Bador) and the Inland Revenue Board to investigate how much taxes Mados Sdn Bhd has paid after doing business” supposedly “for hundreds of years”.

He ended his posting by asking readers: “Do you agree?”

Mados Sdn Bhd is believed to have been set up by Tunku Ismail’s grandfather, the late Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail, according to a 2014 report by Malaysiakini. The company’s nature of business included “property investment, provision of management services, timber logging and quarry operation”, and its shareholders and board of directors comprised members of the royal family.
