PAS declares support for PBS candidate in Sandakan by-election

(TheStar) – PAS has declared its support for Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) candidate Datuk Linda Tsen in the Sandakan by-election.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said this was in line with the party’s decision not to field a candidate for the polls, in order to give undivided support to the Opposition candidate that will be up against Pakatan Harapan.

“This step was taken to strengthen the Opposition bloc’s role in providing check and balance in Parliament, as well as to the government, for the good of the country and people.

“PAS, especially Sandakan PAS and Sabah PAS, will mobilise its local election machinery and ensure that party supporters cast their vote for PBS and Tsen,” he said in a statement Sunday (April 28).

Wong’s youngest daughter Vivian, 30, who is also from DAP, would be squaring off against Tsen in a five-cornered fight.

Others in the race as independents are former Sabah PAS and later Sabah Amanah chairman Hamzah Abdullah, 65, businessman Chia Siew Yung, 45, and former political worker Sulaiman Abdul Samat, 36.
