All Mahathir needs to do is to get the Registrar of Societies to deregister Umno and all the Umno people will cross over to PPBM or Bersatu. Anwar Ibrahim finally revealed what Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad feared most: and that is Anwar is working on a secret PKR-Umno deal with Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Mahathir already suspected that Anwar and Zahid might gang up on him. That is why Mahathir asked the MACC to go for Zahid and put him out of action.
Why Anwar would want to reveal this secret deal he is making with Zahid at this stage is quite baffling (READ THE NEWS ITEM BELOW). But then Anwar is always fond of doing this. In 2008 he announced his ‘16 September’ plot even before he had the numbers and the whole thing collapsed.
Anwar does not seem to understand the saying you must not count your chickens before they hatch. He did this in 2008 and he is going it again.
It seems Anwar has promised Zahid that once he (Anwar) becomes the Prime Minister he will ask the Attorney-General to drop the four dozen or so charges against him (Zahid). But then Zahid has to first make sure that Umno is a friend of PKR and not a friend of PAS.

Anwar: Tok Mat will not be the next Umno chief due to conspiracy among party leaders
(The Star) – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says that Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan will not be the next Umno president, claiming there is some conspiring among party leaders.
The PKR president said this was because certain Umno leaders had started being friendly towards him as he is in line to become the eighth prime minister after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“People ask me how to fight Mohamad as he is the Umno acting president. I was in Umno for a long time. I don’t think he will be president.”
“That’s how I see it, from my political understanding. Umno members came to meet me – this is politics.”
“They think that they have to be friendly with Anwar because after this, Anwar will become the prime minister, so they want to get ‘insurance’,” said the Port Dickson MP in an event with residents of Kampung Segga Hilir near here today.
Anwar, who did not name anyone in his speech, said that they met in secret.
“On the ground they say ‘We are of Umno and PAS lineage’ but secretly, they came to negotiate with me. So don’t be influenced, the ones at the top are conspiring,” he said.
Anwar added that he could not divulge any further details about the meeting.
“Because that person trusts me, it’s a secret and I can’t spill it,” he said.
