IGP: Cops will look into claims of sexual assault on juvenile held for murder of Cradle CEO

(The Star) – The police will look into claims of sexual assault on a juvenile who is held in detention for the murder of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pic) said if the allegation of sexual assault is true, police will investigate the matter.

“Such things should not have taken place,” he said, adding that he will instruct the Kuala Lumpur police to look into it.

Fuzi was responding to a statement by the juvenile’s lawyer at the Shah Alam High Court on Tuesday (March 12).

Lawyer Hisyam Teh Poh Teik, representing the boy and another juvenile, urged the court to transfer the boy from the detention centre in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, to Puncak Alam in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Teh claimed his client was assaulted sexually and physically while being held in detention.

On another note, police have opened an investigation paper against DAP leader Lim Guan Eng over his statement that described the Umno-PAS union as a declaration of war on non-Malays.

Mohamad Fuzi said the investigation paper was opened last week since the first police report was filed against Lim concerning the matter.

“As of now, a total of 58 police reports were filed. We will compile it for the investigation paper before having it looked into by the DPP,” he said at a press conference at the South Seberang Prai district police headquarters Tuesday (March 12).

When asked whether police have taken Lim’s statement, Mohamad Fuzi said police will do so only when it is necessary for the investigation.

The police have initiated an investigation under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for the offence of causing public mischief. Those convicted may be jailed up to two years, or fined, or both.
