Ex-minister among 7 former Umno MPs accepted into PPBM

FMT) – A former federal minister and two deputy ministers are among seven MPs from Umno who have been accepted into PPBM, the party’s chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced today.

The three are former minister of domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism Hamzah Zainuddin, former deputy tourism minister Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and former deputy health minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad.

The others are Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), Mohamad Fasiah Mohd Fakeh (Sabak Bernam), Rosol Wahid (Hulu Terengganu) and Shahbudin Yahya (Tasik Gelugor).

Welcoming them to PPBM’s fold at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Mahathir said the newly accepted members had been “vetted”.

“It doesn’t mean they are seeking protection. We will not protect any wrongdoing,” the prime minister said.

He said the seven MPs would remain ordinary members without any position.

“We may seek their views or allow them to campaign for PPBM and Pakatan Harapan,” he added.
