RM90mil not channelled to PAS party accounts, says MACC source

The RM90mil allegedly received by PAS from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) was not channelled into the party’s official bank accounts, Malaysiakini reported.

(The Star) – “(It was found that) there was no RM90mil from 1MDB credited into PAS accounts.

“These are the official bank accounts of the party,” a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) source told the news portal.

However, Malaysiakini noted it had yet to establish if graftbusters have finished looking into the personal bank accounts of several PAS leaders.

Among key the figures implicated are PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Aziz and former deputy president Datuk Dr Nasharudin Mat Isa.

The MACC initiated the investigation into the RM90mil worth of funds after police reports were lodged on the matter.

The investigation came shortly after the decision by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to agree to an out-of-court settlement involving a defamation suit he filed against Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown.

The whistleblower site claimed that PAS received RM90mil from Umno, with the money suspected to have originated from the controversial 1MDB fund.

The allegation has been denied by PAS and Umno.
