Kelantan PPBM and PKR accept Azmin, Amanah does not

(FMT) – Kelantan PPBM and PKR today said it accepted Mohamed Azmin Ali’s appointment as chairman of the state action council, a day after the Amanah chapter in the state took issue with it.

Kelantan PPBM chief Kamaruddin Mohd Noor said there was no need to debate the economic affairs minister’s appointment as it was decided by the Pakatan Harapan leadership.

“Our stand is simple. We accept decisions made by the government or the Cabinet. What is important to us is that the agency plays a role to assist people in Kelantan,” he told Malaysiakini.

He said Kelantan PPBM left the decision to the prime minister’s “wisdom and discretion”.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Office announced Azmin’s appointment to the post, which took effect on Jan 1.

The council oversees the coordination of policies and projects for the state’s development.

However, Kelantan Amanah objected to the appointment and urged for it to be reviewed.

Its youth chief Hazmi Hassan said PH should refer to the agreement reached by the four components that Amanah would be in charge of both Kelantan and Terengganu.

The party’s deputy president Salahuddin Ayub has since said he had raised the matter with the PH presidential council and that PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad was receptive of their views.

Kelantan PKR also had no objection to Azmin’s appointment although it said there was a need to consider the views of local state leaders.

Its state PKR chief Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor commented that while he is not saying his deputy president “is the right person”, the coalition had to accept and support those who were appointed.

“The issue (of who is appointed) does not arise because what is most important is that the people of Kelantan get to enjoy development,” he was quoted by the portal as saying.
