Tommy Thomas agreed on US$1.5 billion, Rosli Dahlan got US$3.9 billion

And the figure of US$9 billion that Lokman mentioned last night — which he said should have been the figure that 1MDB push for — was never raised in Tommy Thomas’s letter to the PM. Tommy Thomas wanted US3.9 billion (not US$9 billion) but he got only US$1.5 billion. Rosli Dahlan, on the other hand, got the original figure that 1MDB wanted, which was US$3.9 billion.

NO HOLDS BARRED

This is what Clare Rewcastle Brown of Sarawak Report wrote last night:

“Why is it that there has been no scrutiny allowed of the terms and conditions of the 1MDB reparations, thanks to special secrecy clauses introduced to prevent parliamentary oversight and normal auditing?

A growing number of people clearly believe they know why. On Friday it emerged that a police report has been lodged by PN’s political opponents demanding investigations into ‘viral rumours’ that RM500 million has been siphoned out of the secretive settlement reached with the bank last year – money that Bersatu insiders are alleged to have described as being destined for the party’s election war chest.”

Malaysia Today actually had already replied to this fake news earlier in an article “Did PPBM Receive RM500 Million From 1MDB?” (READ THE ARTICLE HERE). So why is Clare still raising this issue, which has already been replied?

Last night, Lokman Noor Adam asked why did 1MDB (or 1MDB’s lawyer, Rosli Dahlan) settle for only US$3.9 billion? They should have asked for US$9 billion, said Lokman.

What Lokman probably does not know is that the US$3.9 billion that Rosli Dahlan got is far higher than the US$1.5 billion that the then Attorney-General, Tommy Thomas, and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had agreed on.

In his letter to the PM, AG Tommy Thomas recommended that Malaysia accept US$1.5 billion, but Rosli Dahlan rejected that figure and insisted on US$3.9 billion

Yes, Tommy Thomas and Dr Mahathir were prepared to accept just US$1.5 billion. When Rosli Dahlan took over as 1MDB’s lawyer, he refused to accept that extremely low figure, which Tommy Thomas and Dr Mahathir had agreed to settle on. Rosli Dahlan re-negotiated the settlement figure and pushed it up to US$3.9 billion.

So where did this US$9 billion figure come from?

Clare Brown-Sarawak Report also said”

“The allegation being made, which Sarawak Report has also received from authoritative sources, is that a staggering 5% commission was awarded to key negotiators appointed by the Malaysian government of the total amount secured from Goldman. If true, the fee achieved from the $2.5 billion would indeed amount to just over RM500 million.”

Yes, “if true, the fee achieved from the $2.5 billion would indeed amount to just over RM500 million” said Clare Brown-Sarawak Report. So Clare Brown-Sarawak Report does not really know if the allegation, which was first raised by Lokman Adam three nights ago, is true or not. “If true,” said Clare Brown-Sarawak Report.

Well, Malaysia Today already revealed that the allegation is NOT true (READ MORE HERE). And a police report has already been lodged by the Pejuang rep regarding this “IF TRUE” allegation. So, let’s wait to see what the police have to say about this false police report. After all, is making a false report report not a crime?

Rosli actually recovered RM10 billion more than what Tommy Thomas had agreed on. And Rosli’s legal firm was just paid their cost, which is RM2.4 million. So, what are they talking about?

Actually, their target is not really Rosli Dahlan but Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and PPBM or Bersatu. They are saying Rosli’s law firm was paid RM2 billion in fees so that they can accuse Muhyiddin and PPBM of receiving RM500 million in kickbacks.

If Rosli’s law firm was paid just RM2.4 million, how can he kick back RM500 million to Muhyiddin and PPBM? Hence the reason for the allegation that Rosli’s law firm received RM2 billion in fees.

What is also very important, which they are not talking about, is that Tommy Thomas and Dr Mahathir had settled for just one-third of what 1MDB should have received from the United States Department of Justice (US DoJ) on the confiscation and sale of Jho Low’s assets.

Jho Low’s yacht, his home in the US, his private jet, etc., were all sold off very cheap and way below what they were bought for — and only part of the money was returned to 1MDB, after the US DoJ deducted their costs and expenses incurred. Hence, in the end, another few billions were lost due to the incompetency of Tommy Thomas and his team.

They sold the US$250 million luxury yacht, Equanimity, for half the price, the US$55 million Manhattan apartment for just US$18 million, and the US$36 million Bombardier jet for merely US$136,000. And they were prepared to accept US$2.4 billion less from Goldman Sachs. Rosli Dahlan saved Malaysia RM10 billion. He should be given a Datukship instead of getting attacked by the AMC (Anti-Muhyiddin Campaign).

(Free Malaysia Today) – Malaysia must take the initiative to recover 1MDB assets overseas, and not just depend on the US Department of Justice (DoJ) to do it. This is because, senior lawyer Rosli Dahlan said, the DoJ would likely take one-third of the proceeds and costs, which could come to another one-third. Malaysia, he warned, could end up getting only one-third of the value of the assets. (READ MORE HERE)

(The Edge Markets) – Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, says in a statement via his lawyers today that the Malaysian government has shown it is “prepared to trash the value” of the Equanimity super yacht in a misguided attack on its political opponents. (READ MORE HERE)
