Zahid Hamidi is no Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb

Umar then took out his sword and placed it before him and said if he ever deviated from the true path then take his own sword and cut off his head.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb — the second Caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate after Abu Bakr Abdullah ibn Uthman — was one of the most powerful and influential Muslim Caliphs in history.

It is said, after Abu Bakr died, there was a meeting to choose his successor, but some did not agree to Umar’s nomination and asked how they can be assured he will be a fair and just Caliph.

Umar then took out his sword and placed it before him and said if he ever deviated from the true path then take his own sword and cut off his head.

Umar was a leader but leaders may not necessarily be an Umar

Yes, that was the mark of a good, fair and just leader. No one who criticised Umar, and there were some, was ever issued a show cause letter or punished for criticising him.

But then I suppose that is why there is only one Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb while the rest are Mahathir, Anwar, Najib, Zahid, Muhyiddin and so on.

Annuar’s aide told to show cause after criticising Zahid

(FMT) – An aide to federal territories minister Annuar Musa has been issued a show-cause letter by Umno for openly criticising party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who is Annuar’s press secretary, confirmed that he received the letter this morning and that he will be brought before the party’s disciplinary board on Feb 25.

Faisal, who is also Putrajaya Umno deputy chief, said he was not surprised by the show-cause letter as he had been hearing rumours about it since two weeks ago.

“Certain individuals had even organised meetings with members and leaders of certain Umno divisions to invite them to file complaints against me to the disciplinary board.

“I have already read all the allegations made in the letter. I will be present before the tribunal next Thursday,” he told FMT today.

Faisal previously accused Zahid of losing his credibility and betraying the party after Annuar claimed the Umno president sent a letter to the King supporting opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to be prime minister.

The letter was said to have gone against the party’s “No Anwar, no DAP” policy, and surfaced amid rising tensions between Umno and PPBM.
