Bersatu 2.0 changes to black logo
(The True Net) – BERSATU leaders and members who support Dr Mahathir Mohamad have changed the colour of the Bersatu logo from red to black on social media as a sign of protest against the party’s direction under president Muhyiddin Yassin.
The campaign kicked off last night with images of the colour-changed logo circulating on social media.
Among those who changed their profile on social media with the black logo were party deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and Kubang Pasu division chief Amiruddin Hamzah.
They were among five MPs, including Dr Mahathir, who had their memberships terminated for joining the opposition side in parliament on May 18.
Bersatu supreme council (MPT) members Ulya Aqamah Husamuddin and Tariq Ismail also updated the profile images with the new black logo.
Tariq in a Facebook post last night wrote that the campaign was approved by Dr Mahathir.
“This black logo is a sign of protest from members who remain united, principled and dignified, so that the party can be restored to its original path,” he said.
Ulya also denied claims that the campaign had not received widespread response from members and Bersatu leaders who were with Dr Mahathir.
“Some of them didn’t change their profile picture (to black) but shared the logo on social media.
“If Umno supporters start commenting on the campaign, then the message of the campaign has been heard,” he said, adding that they have been getting reactions since the launch.
Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, one of the five who lost their party membership, was among those who shared the black logo on social media.
On June 9, Dr Mahathir and five other Bersatu leaders filed a suit against Muhyiddin and three others, claiming they are still party members.
In their suit, they also asked the court to declare that Muhyiddin is not a member of Bersatu.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court is scheduled to hear an application for a temporary injunction by Dr Mahathir in connection with the suit tomorrow.
